The approval process for new academic programs at IU Indianapolis is designed to ensure that any new programs align with the strategic priorities of the university, support the mission of the campus and the originating academic unit, relate appropriately to other IU or Purdue campuses, and have the resources necessary to sustain them.
The academic program approval process is based on the process for developing and offering a new degree program; however, the process also applies to the creation of other types of academic programs (e.g., certificate programs) as well as to modifications of existing academic programs.
