The Academic Program Proposal, Evaluation, and Review (APPEAR) system is used by academic officers to propose new academic programs and to request modifications to existing academic programs at IU Indianapolis, including:
- Degree programs (undergraduate and graduate)
- Certificate programs
- Majors
- Minors
- Concentrations
- Tracks
Proposals may require approval at the academic unit, campus, and/or university levels, depending on the type of program. In some cases, state approval is also required.
A proposal’s progress through university and state review processes can be tracked with the APPEAR system. To facilitate the process of coding the program in the Student Information System, proposals for both IU and Purdue programs are entered into APPEAR.
